Doran returns to ARX for COTA finale with GCK Megane

(September 20, 2018) – The “British Bomb” Liam Doran will make his second Americas Rallycross (ARX) start in the final round of the 2018 season at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas next week (September 29 – 30).

The double X Games gold medallist raced in the inaugural ARX event at Silverstone in the UK and finished on the podium. At COTA he will race a Renault Megane RS RX for GC Kompetition, having raced for the team in FIA World Rallycross Championship events in France and Latvia recently, and both times qualified for the semi-finals, while helping to make “significant changes and subsequent improvements to the cars’ set up.”

After the COTA ARX finale, Doran will also complete the World RX season with the team in Germany and South Africa. “I’m super excited to be finishing the season with GCK and Prodrive. It’s been a great experience so far and I feel I’ve been able to have a positive impact in developing the car further alongside Guerlain [Chicherit]. We have really improved our lap times and overall performance and I’m looking forward to building on that over the next few races until the end of the season. It’s unbelievable for me, it’s an opportunity I never thought I’d get and I’m so appreciative to have been given it, I’ll make sure to give it my all to prove them right,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to racing in ARX, I’ve got a lot of awesome fans in the US and of course my family, so I’m excited to race in front of them. I did the first round at Silverstone earlier this year and got a good result, so I think it’ll be really good for me and for the team to race this final round of the Championship and be in with a good chance of getting a good result in the 3rd GCK Mégane R.S. RX.”

Doran will be one of two British drivers racing in ARX at COTA, joining regular competitor Oliver Bennett on the starting grid.
