Sandell focused on progress at DirtFish ARX of COTA

Swede Patrik Sandell says Subaru Rally Team USA is working hard to prepare for the second ever round of Americas Rallycross (ARX) at the DirtFish ARX of COTA in Austin, Texas on July 14.

The 2006 Junior World Rally Champion raced the Subaru Rally Team USA WRX STI in the first ever ARX event at Silverstone, UK, to fourth in the final after a close battle with Britain’s Liam Doran for a place on the podium. “We took some good steps and good improvements at Silverstone to fine-tune the cars. The car was faster in the final than it ever was so that was really good,” he said. “We scored some good points, I would really have had third but got spun out in the beginning of the final, so it was hard. I almost got back up to third so it was at least good points in the end. Going into COTA we definitely have some work to do to stay with the VWs, so we’re working hard to be prepared.”

After finishing as the highest placed Subaru driver in round one, Sandell is stoked to be return to America to continue the 2018 season at the DirtFish ARX of COTA, where he will drive together with team mates Chris Atkinson and Travis Pastrana. “It was fun to be in Europe but I’m definitely looking forward to racing back in America. Hopefully we can really fight for a podium and almost a win there. We are a position where we can keep fighting for the Championship so that’s good and we definitely have something to build from. We have a few more things to test out to really get the car to rotate easily around those tight bends, but we are working on that.”
