Steve Arpin: "Rallycross is on the Verge of Exploding"

(October 3, 2018) – Canadian star Steve Arpin believes that rallycross in the USA is set to explode into the future, following his first Americas Rallycross (ARX) podium finish in the final round at the Circuit of The Americas last weekend.

Loenbro Hoonigan’s Arpin and Ken Block debuted the Ford Focus RS RX at round two of ARX in Austin, Texas and the team has made the podium at every event it have started this season. Block finished second at COTA in July and third at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Canada in August, but with a much-improved weekend it was Arpin’s turn to finish the final in the top three at COTA, in the season finale.

“Our Focus RS RX was amazing this weekend. Scott (Speed) said it perfect – it was an emotional rollercoaster. It was a transition year for us switching series and switching cars, and going to this Focus honestly caught me off guard how big of a transmission it would be, so to be chasing Tanner (Foust) down un both races on Saturday I was thrilled, we had the speed. I think we proved we’re here and we’re here to stay. Our car was awesome today (on Sunday) and to be sitting here finishing third at the end of the year, I’m thrilled.”

A racer with rallycross event wins in America under his belt, Arpin is excited about the direction that the sport is taking in the US at the close of the ARX’s inaugural season. “We have so many new partners on board, so many new people coming into the sport,” he said. “This sport is on the verge of exploding right now. Our cars just shake on ALS (anti-lag) at the start, right, and it’s like we’re just getting ready to launch. That’s this sport it right now – we’re just getting ready to launch into what’s next.”
