Tanner Foust: ARX is the Perfect Discipline for Auto Enthusiasts

(October 15, 2018) – Americas Rallycross (ARX) vice-champion Tanner Foust thinks the world’s newest rallycross Championship can reach out to a young new audience as it grows into the future.

The Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross driver won two rounds of ARX in its inaugural season, at the Silverstone Speedmachine Festival in the UK for round one and at the season finale at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

“IMG kind of pulled it out this year, we were left with this amazing equipment, all these hungry drivers and no playground. IMG stepped up with ARX and gave us a Championship to race in – that was important,” said Foust. “Hopefully this is a Championship that grows, this was kind of a transition year jumping in so we appreciate and now we really want to grow it.”

Foust is the only American driver in history to win a round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship and a round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship and challenged VARX Volkswagen Beetle teammate Scott Speed for the first ever ARX title in 2018. Foust believes that rallycross’ high intensity, adrenaline filled racing is perfect for a young demographic in the USA.

“There’s a hungry, young, strong enthusiast market in the US. If you go to any car show, any cars and coffee anywhere in the country they are absolutely packed with hungry enthusiasts wanting to know what the next performance mod is they can do. I think rallycross is the perfect place to grab those enthusiasts so hopefully we can tailor Americas Rallycross to meet that market here in the States.”
